Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: September 16, 2025

Entity: 1534583 B.C. LTD. d/b/a "JVO" ("JVO," "we," "us")
Contact: hi@jvo.io

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs how users ("you") may access and use JVO's websites, apps, APIs, and tools that generate or process AI-based lip-sync videos, images, audio, and related content (the "Services"). This AUP is incorporated by reference into the Terms of Service and applies to all Users, including organizational customers and their end users. If this AUP conflicts with the Terms, the Terms control unless this AUP is more protective of JVO.

1) Core Obligations

Follow the Law. You may not use the Services in any way that violates applicable law or regulation (including IP, privacy, publicity, consumer protection, advertising, election, sanctions/export, and youth protection laws).

Obtain Permissions. You must have all necessary rights, consents, and licenses to upload content and to create, use, publish, and distribute any outputs—especially for any identifiable person's likeness or voice. Keep verifiable records and provide them upon JVO's reasonable request.

Be Transparent Where Required. If laws or platform rules require disclosures for synthetic media, you must clearly and conspicuously disclose that the content is AI-generated or materially edited and label deepfakes as such (see the companion AI Transparency Guide).

Use Human Judgment. AI outputs can be inaccurate or unsafe if used without review. You are responsible for human review of outputs and for your reliance on them.

Protect Accounts & API Keys. Keep credentials confidential, comply with rate limits, and do not share or resell access without JVO's written permission.

2) Strictly Prohibited Content & Conduct

The following are strictly prohibited. We may remove content, suspend accounts, and report to authorities (including NCMEC for CSAM) where applicable.

A. Safety & Exploitation

Any sexual or exploitative content involving minors (real, synthetic, or "youthful-looking"), grooming, or child endangerment.

Non-consensual intimate imagery (real or synthetic), "revenge porn," upskirting/downblousing, hidden-camera depictions.

Sexually explicit deepfakes or voice/face swaps without verifiable written consent of all depicted adults.

B. Violence & Hate

Incitement or credible threats of violence; glorification of self-harm or suicide instructions; encouragement of dangerous acts.

Terrorist/extremist content that praises, supports, or recruits; instructions for weapons or explosives.

Hateful or harassing content targeting protected classes (e.g., race, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability).

C. Illicit Behavior & Fraud

Fraud, scams, phishing, impersonation, deceptive "deepfakes" presented as real without required disclosures/consents.

Generation or dissemination of medical, legal, or financial advice presented as if from a qualified professional.

Evasion of platform integrity measures (mislabeling, astroturfing, synthetic virality).

D. Intellectual Property & Rights of Publicity/Privacy

Infringing uploads or outputs (copyright, trademark, trade secrets).

Use of a person's name, image, voice, or distinctive attributes without permission; fake endorsements; deceptive impersonation.

E. Security & Network Abuse

Malware, spyware, keyloggers; instructions for hacking or bypassing security.

DoS, scraping contrary to law, automated spam, or abusive high-volume activities that degrade the Services.

Circumvention of rate limits, feature gating, or paywalls; reselling the Services or outputs without written permission.

F. Sensitive Data & High-Risk Uses

Processing special categories of personal data (e.g., health, precise geolocation, financial account numbers, government IDs, biometric identifiers) without lawful basis, explicit consent (where required), and appropriate safeguards.

Use in high-risk contexts (e.g., medical diagnosis, emergency response, autonomous systems, weapons, aviation, nuclear) where failure could result in injury, death, or severe harm.

G. Election Integrity & Public Interest

Deceptive synthetic media related to civic processes (elections, census) that could mislead the public, unless clearly labeled as synthetic and compliant with local law and platform rules.

Misuse of outputs in political ads without mandated disclosures or jurisdiction-specific compliance.

3) Restricted Content (Allowed Only with Extra Safeguards)

Some uses may be allowed only if you meet added requirements and obtain JVO's written approval (e.g., research, news reporting, satire).

Satire/Parody of public figures: Requires unmistakable contextual cues and on-screen/audio disclosures; no defamatory or pornographic depictions.

News/Documentary uses: Must label reenactments/reconstructions; avoid presenting synthetic material as authentic evidence.

Educational/Research uses: Must de-identify data when feasible; store consent records; avoid public release of potentially harmful artifacts.

Email hi@jvo.io for pre-clearance. Approval may be conditioned on watermarking, consent verification, limited distribution, and audit rights.

4) Likeness, Voice & Deepfake Rules (Binding)

Consent First. Do not upload or generate content with an identifiable person's face or voice without their explicit written consent (or parental/guardian consent for minors).

Documentation. Maintain verifiable consent records (model releases, licenses, talent agreements) and provide them to JVO on request.

No Sexual Content Without Consent. Absolutely no sexualized depictions of any person without explicit, informed, written consent for that specific use.

Mandatory Disclosure. When synthetic media could reasonably be mistaken as real, include clear disclosure at first exposure and persistently within the media (see AI Transparency Guide).

No Biometric Identification. Do not use the Services to identify or recognize individuals across datasets or to build face/voice recognition systems.

5) Platform Integrity & Technical Limits

Rate Limits & Fair Use. Respect usage caps and concurrency limits; no excessive polling or job submission that degrades stability.

API Keys. Keep keys secret; rotate compromised keys; do not embed keys client-side in publicly shipped apps.

Watermarking/Metadata. Where JVO provides watermarking, content labels, or metadata fields, you must not remove or obfuscate them.

Automations. Do not automate account creation, content posting, or engagement in a misleading manner.

6) Reporting, Moderation & Enforcement

Report Violations: Email hi@jvo.io with URLs, timestamps, and a description. We may request additional information, including consent documentation.

Our Actions: We may remove content; throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts; block projects or API keys; notify affected parties and platforms; and, where required, report to authorities.

Notice & Appeal: Where feasible and lawful, we will notify you of actions taken and provide a channel for appeal. Repeated or egregious violations may result in permanent bans.

Preservation: We may preserve data for legal requests and investigations consistent with our Privacy Policy.

7) Changes

We may update this AUP from time to time. Material changes will be posted in-product or by email. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

8) Quick Reference (Non-Binding Summary)

Never:

CSAM, non-consensual intimate media, terrorist praise, explicit deepfakes without consent, fraud/impersonation, malware, IP infringement.

Sometimes:

Parody/news/education only with labeling + consent + pre-approval.

Always:

Keep consent records, label synthetic media where required, review outputs with human judgment.
